Heritage writing is only as good as its sources. Everything factual on this site traces to the public record; everything editorial is our own.

Principal Sources

• Archived editions of the Association’s former website (1998–2022, via the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine) — used as a reference for dates, fleet facts and the sequence of events, not as a text source. The former site was first published in 1998, originally hosted by Railpage, and redesigned in 2009.
• COTMA conference papers — including the Association’s report to the 2025 Brisbane conference on the W5 792 restoration.
• Victorian Collections — catalogue records for tramcars preserved at Haddon.
• Wikipedia — W-class Melbourne tram and related articles, for cross-checking class histories.
• Vicsig — Victorian tramway heritage fleet listings.

Text, Artwork and Photographs

No text from the former website is reproduced or paraphrased sentence-by-sentence here; all prose was written fresh. The tram silhouettes throughout the site are our own original SVG artwork. The photographic record of the Haddon trams was built over decades by named enthusiast photographers whose work remains theirs — the only photographs on this site are genuinely free ones, each credited where it appears: a public-domain Walter Hodgkinson photograph of VR trams 1 and 2 (c.1906–1915) and a CC BY-SA 4.0 photograph of W2 407 at Ballarat in 2022, both via Wikimedia Commons.
